Hi Jeff, How are ya? The reason we decided to get a drummer was to improve our live show for our fans. We've always had alot of trouble getting Laura's vocals loud enough since the cymbals would bleed through her vocal mic. We even had some shows where the vocals were virtually non-existant. We didn't feel this was fair to our fans, and we want to give you all the best performance possible! This was not an idea brought on by a music exec. to make us more marketable. It's also better because Laura can have more interaction with the crowd and is learning to play 2nd guitar on some songs! I think this is something everyone will like when they see it and we are having alot of fun with it. We are planning on having a drummer on our upcoming March tour - If for some reason it doesn't work out, we can always go back to the 3 piece. :) We played 3 shows in CA over the weekend with Laura up front for the entire show and got a really great response from it. Our March tour will be our first official tour with a drummer, and I'm excited for you all to see us with Laura up front!! Thanks for writing!! geL

Hey there, Welcome all new members and Happy New Year! To answer your question, ratlad, I think that would be cool to add the lyrics from Confidential on Ed's site! We'll try to get them out to Ed asap. I actually dont even remember which lyrics were left off - I'll have to go back and look through the booklet. We left them off mainly because there wasn't enough room. It looks like we'll be heading out on a US tour in March/April - right now New Haven(bg_025) is tentatively scheduled as well as South Carolina(Maggie/ Tres). rock! We're psyched to hit the road again, and as some of you may have read on Ed's web page, it looks like we'll have a drummer for that tour and Laura will be singing up front. I'll post more on the tour dates as well as the drummer as it gets closer. As for now, I gotta run - we leave tomorrow for CA and I'm still not packed. yikes! more soon, geL

Hey Ed, Damn - your website looks fuckin' awesome!! VERY comprehensive to boot - definitely Eyeliners approved!! That's cool that you found all those articles including the Weekly Alibi we were on the cover of - wow. We need to add a "LINKS" section to our homepage so that we can link your site as well of any of you that also have Eyeliners sites. Where did you get the live mp3 of Monster Man? You know, that's very rare that we play that song live...and it's almost always around Halloween time. :) Anyway, that's cool that you got a live mp3 up there...and even live videos! I haven't downloaded them yet, but I'll try to soon. Anyway, the page looks fuckin' great - thank you! xoxo, The Eyeliners

Hey Kevin, When we were very young, we used to listen to alot of old new wave. I remember being like 5 yrs old and rocking out to Cyndi Lauper, Blondie, the Go-Gos, and the Cars. Of course, we always listened to oldies (50's/60's stuff) as well. Anyway, from there, Lisa and Laura moved onto punk when they were teenagers, so I remember hearing punk tunes since I was real young. Pretty much everything we could get our hands on from the Clash, XRay Spex, Rezillos, Ramones, NY Dolls to the Descendents, Black Flag, DK to Operation Ivy, Screeching Weasel, MTX, Green Day and it goes on and on. I bought my first punk record(actually my first 2 records) with my own money when I was 13. I was at an indoor flea market and was rummaging through the LP section. First I found the Ramones "Rocket to Russia" in excellent shape for only $1. I already loved the Ramones, so I was psyched. I kept looking through the LPs and then I found Stiff Little Fingers, "Nobodys Heros" also for $1. I wasn't familiar with SLF yet, but I thought they looked pretty damn cool. :) Probably the best $2 I ever spent! Rock, geL

Hello, Just wanted to update you all. As you all heard, the Donnas were in an accident yesterday. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured, but they were definitely banged up and are shaken up by the whole thing. We will be playing the in-store today at Wax Trax in Denver, but other than that, the last three shows of the tour have been cancelled. This tour has been so amazing for us and we'd like to thank the Donnas for taking us on tour with them. They are great people and a great band. It was so cool ....and I can't believe it's over so fast! It was so great to be on tour with two bands that totally rocked every night!! We'll be playing two record release shows in November - one in Albuquerque, one in Las Cruces (I'll have more info on that soon), and other than that, I think those will be the last Eyeliners shows for the year. I'm glad we had the pleasure of meeting so many of you on tour this year - you guys rock! xoxo, geL

Hey Kevin, Our initial plan was to have a comic book that would coincide with the release of SWAK, but like Jason said, we just didn't have enough time to get it all co-ordinated. Hello! I'm sorry to those of you who went to either the DC or Virgina Beach shows and we weren't there. We got added to the Donnas San Francisco show on Sept. 9(this sunday!) so we had to drop off the Plea For Peace tour after the Philly show. It was completely unexpected. We drove two 15 hour days to get home from Philadelphia and we got in late last night-I'm going on five hours of sleep right now. Anyway, I hope this clears up any confusion about the shows. The Plea for Peace tour was really fun! All the bands on that tour were some of the nicest bands we've ever had the pleasure of touring with! I hope you all go out and see the Plea For Peace tour when it stops by your town! Are there any of you here from Philly? At the Philly show(our last night of the tour), Matt Skiba from Alkaline Trio came on stage and sang "It Could Have Been You" with Laura while Lance (Alk3 sound guy) played drums! For those of you dont know, "It Could Have Been You" is a song that Laura does a duet with Ben Weasel on our upcoming record. It was an awesome ending to our part of the tour and I wish you all could have seen it! I guess that's all I have for you in the way of updates! See ya on the road, geL

Hello! How are ya? We just got back from recording in San Francisco with Ryan Greene, so I thought I would drop in to update you on some album/tour info. The new album is finished and sounds amazing!! It will be released in September and will be called, "Sealed With A Kiss" and has 12 songs. We played two new songs out at our shows in California last weekend (yep, Jason, you got the names of the songs right!). Also, one of the songs, "It Could Have Been You", features guest vocals from Ben Weasel!!! We're very excited about the album, and can't wait for you all to hear it! On to tour news... Unfortunately, we have dropped off the Icarus Line tour. Our next tour will be a co-headlining tour with Tsunami Bomb and will start June 30 in Salt Lake City and continues through July 19, followed by dates on the Warped tour(July 20 - July 23)! Check www.TheEyeliners.com or www.lookoutrecords.com for the changes. Also, for those of you that were able to make it to our CA shows last weekend, you saw us trying something new. Laura stepped up to the front to sing live without the drums for the first time ever (!) as Hunter from AFI played drums for some songs at the Los Gatos and Santa Cruz shows. We got a picture of her singing that I just posted to the "Photos" section of the Big Scoop. We're thinking about doing this more often, so we're taking a poll: Do you like Laura drumming/singing, or would you like to see her up front singing, or a combination of the two? Ok, well that's all for now. More soon, geL

Hello all- Greetings from Houston! I just wanted to drop a line to answer a few questions. The new album is going to be in the same vein of our last two albums. It is definitely not going to be progressive metal! We will be going to San Francisco to record the new album next month. As for midwest tour dates (and tour dates in general), we will be on the PLEA FOR PEACE tour this year along with Hot Water Music, Alkaline Trio, etc. The tour is a full US tour(five and a half weeks!), with a few dates in Canada which we're really excited about since we've never been there before. It tentatively starts Aug. 23 in Chicago and ends late Sept. in Wisconsin. I hope you all can make it to these shows! Until then, we are playing shows in Texas this week along w/Midtown, Dynamite Boy and Hot Rod Circuit and will be playing the outdoor stage at 11pm at Albuquerques Spring Crawl Sat., Apr. 28 as well as an all ages show at Insurgo on May 4! To Shelly, we would definitely like to play a show sometime in Corpus Christi, and that would be cool if your band could play with us. Too bad you didn't get in touch with our booking agent sooner because we had a day off yesterday. We'll have to schedule that next time we're in Texas - maybe when we're in Texas for Warped Tour! Hey everyone! How are ya? Just wanted to drop in and answer some questions, and update you on some stuff. To answer Kevin's question, we do have the Here Comes Trouble posters for sale(by the way, thanks for the info, Jason!), and we have put them up on our website along with the New Years Eve silkscreened poster that Jason mentioned. There are not too many of the silkscreened posters left, though. We don't have a US tour planned at this time, but we are hoping to do one this summer after we record the new album. We love playing Philly, though! Here's a basic idea of what are tour plans are at this time(but things can always change at any time): -April 25-27 in Texas at the end of April w/Midtown, Dynamite Boy, HotRod Circuit -June 1-8 in CA/AZ (after recording -July: dates on Warped Tour We now have mp3's available at mp3.com - go to http://www.mp3.com/TheEyeliners to check it out! We will be updating this as often as we can - switching out songs, etc. We will also be putting up the b-sides from our 7"s for those of you who don't have turntables, as well as rare tracks! I hope I've answered all your questions - if you have any more, just post them here, and one of us will answer them asap! Keep rockin', geL

It will be April 8 at the Sunshine Theatre with Fugazi!!! That will be a rockin' show, and I hope everyone can make it! Also we will be recording our new album at the end of May at Motor Studios in San Francisco with Ryan Greene. We really love his work so we are really excited about that! I guess that's it for now. Hey- That's awesome that your band covers So What! I know we've never been to Corpus Christi before, but I've heard great things about it. We'll be in Texas in April with Midtown, Dynamite Boy, and Hot Rod Circuit - hopefully you can catch one of the show this time. Cheers- geL

Hey everyone! How are ya? We are actually trying to figure out where to record our next album right now. I wish I had more info to give you, but we'll probably know for sure by the end of the week! Anyway, we're planning on recording at the end of May, and the album will be released in the fall (most likely Oct.) It will have 12-14 songs on it - we are very stoked on our new songs and are getting anxious to record it! Plus, there's going to be a surprise on the next record... More info to come! RockNRoll, geL

Hey! The Psychodrama 7" is really rare and hard to find - there are only 500 of those out there! The A-side has "Headache" and the B-side has "Tamara". The songs on the PD 7" were recorded by us in our living room so they are really low-fi! We re-recorded Headache for the Confidential CD, and re-recorded Tamara in Dec. 1995 for a comp called "Punk...it's all about the Orchis Factor" which came out on Suburban Home Records and thanks to the fact that Blink 182 is on it, you can find it at your local Hot Topic. :) Anyway, that version is the one floating around Napster.
